Ah, the algorithm. In the olden days I would have thought: What a coincidence! I was just discussing Ross Gay’s work with two of my writer friends, yesterday–one who’s just discovered the poet and essayist and one who’s a long-time fan. This latter friend and I like to dream up an anthology inspired by Ross Gay’s work and its spiritual associations. But, as I have an anthology going at the moment–at the intersection of dance and health–I’m a little tied up.

However, we can all use some writing advice. And Ross Gay’s writing advice tends to make for pretty super living advice as well.

I love returning to an old post–this one from seven years ago! It’s fun to read the comments from writers I still catch up with online once in a while. Blogging really is a delight!

  1. Too many of my blogging friends from long ago have moved on to other endeavors. It’s nice to see a familiar face pop up whenever I visit old posts.

I never thought about it before, but a lot of church names are pretty depressing.

  2. What really frustrates me is that now the old blogging community is just over at Substack. I finally relented–so now I’m at both places (not doing enough at either). But I’d hate to lose all those connections.
Ha, yes–imagine naming a restaurant along those depressing church lines. Just bad marketing!
